What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is guided relaxation, intense concentration, and focused attention to achieve a heightened state of awareness that is sometimes called a trance. The person's attention is so focused while in this state that anything going on around the person is temporarily blocked out or ignored. In this naturally occurring state, a person may focus his or her attention -- with the help of a trained therapist -- on specific thoughts or tasks.
How Does It Work?
The hypnotic state makes the person better able to respond to suggestions. Therefore, hypnotherapy can help some people change certain behaviors, such as stopping smoking or nail biting, weight or pain management, anxiety, fears, etc.
Is Hypnotherapy Safe?
It is very safe. Everyone enters into some form of hypnosis on a daily basis, such as when you first wake up or are about to fall asleep. Daydreaming, reading a book and watching TV are also forms of hypnosis. You can not get "stuck" in a hypnotic state, it would be the equivelant of getting "stuck" in sleep. You can not be made to do anything against your will or ethics.
What should I expect?
During your first session we will get some history and discuss the issues you would like to have help with. Once we do that I will answer any questions you have, then we will do a little warm up, play some relaxation music, than I will just ask you to get comfortable in the chair, close your eyes and relax. We will do the hypnosis and then after, we will discuss how you felt, what you remember, where to go next. It's all very simple. You will awaken refreshed and relaxed!!
